We packed in a lot of adventure during this trip.
This was the first park we visited at the Estes Park entrance. We walked around Lily Lake and it was breathtaking
Rocky Mountain National Park
Exiting Rocky Mountain National Park we drove this beautiful highway south heading to Route 70. So many gorgeous places to see!
Peak to Peak — Colorado Department of Transportation
Such a cool stadium to see from even the outside. We pulled into the parking lot to take some shots. There is a running/walking trail that wraps it too.
Empower Field at Mile High
Our son's favorite sport is baseball so we walked around this ballpark before a concert was starting. It's beautiful at a mile high!
Coors Field
Can't go to Estes Park without stopped to see the Stanley. The do tours but we opted to see from the outside and then head to Rocky Mountain National Park.
The Stanley Hotel
Plan about 3 hours here and you must do 1 hike after all of the scenic overlooks. This was the only park where the visitor center was closed. It's closed to Montrose and then we headed south to Ouray.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
This was so cool! Be sure to rent sandboards and sandsleds before you enter the park to maximize your fun on the dunes. This was our son's favorite park because of trying sandboarding.

Where to stay
We did an 8 day trip and stayed in 6 places throughout our road trip after flying in/out of Denver. We don't do boring adventures so the kids love experiencing unique stays.
We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Denver our first night after flying in. The kids LOVED the tracker on the roof of the gym. It also has a tennis court.
Hotels in Denver
This was hand downs the quietest location we stayed at throughout Colorado. They also do timeshares. We had a 2 floor Villa with a spiral staircase and a full kitchen. It can be booked with your Marriott points or even Airbnb.
Vail CO Resorts | Marriott's StreamSide Evergreen at Vail
We stayed overnight here while visiting Arches since the parks are less than 1 ½ hours from the CO border. It's less than 10 minutes from the national park and is on the side of a mountain. Great sunset view!
Moab, Utah Hotel | Hyatt Place Moab
We stayed here near Grand Junction, CO in between Arches and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Beautiful property right on the Colorado river with all kinds of farm animals.
Colorado river guest house - Guesthouses for Rent in Clifton, ...
We loved this location and the owners. It was perfect right on the river and walkable to town.
Ouray Riverside Resort • Cabins & Inn & RV Park
This is a retro motel converted to be more hipster. It was cute, but not what I expected. Fine for a quick overnight. If you get the airstream, please note they are closer together than you'd expect from there website.
Boutique Airstream Lodge & Hotel in Salida, CO
This was in the heart of Colorado Springs and we had a great city view. Kids love the pool/hot tub/gym and complimentary breakfast. Please note you have to pay for valet but well worth it so you don't fight for parking elsewhere with your luggage.
