Potty Training Essentials
Some resources, tools, and tips for supporting kiddos when potty trainings. I’ve expressed clearly what we have used and what we have not (but like the idea of).
We have this potty training toilet for our youngest and has worked so well. It is easy to keep clean and portable enough to be moved around the house.
BabyBjorn Potty Chair - Gray
After transitioning into a potty chair, you’ll probably graduate to the traditional toilet. A insert like this is so practical to have at home and we are lucky to have one also at the grandparents’ house.
Munchkin Sturdy Potty Seat - White
We love having a stepstool in the bathroom. It makes independence more possible for our little and a stepstool is a practical piece of furniture that could be moved around from the toilet, to the sink, to the kitchen when needed.
Kids' Double Step Stool White
We have not personally used these. I have heard great things about them on the internet, though.
Potty Training Underwear
We’ve not started overnight potty training, but these look so practical for that season.
Hygge Sheets® Potty Training Pee Pads - Waterproof
Potty training underwear are fantastic when you’ve transitioned out of pull-ups. Pro tip, get underwear that have your child’s favorite character or design/pattern on them to make them more fun.
Disney Mickey Mouse Toddler 6-Pack Training Pants
On-the-go Essentials
Perfect for on the go training. Disposable and easy to carry in a bag.
Frida Baby Potty Mess Mats - 20 count
When our children were ready to start potty training, we transitioned to pull up, which make it easier to take things off and on to use the bathroom.
Pull-Ups Girls' Learning Designs Training Pants
A foldable and portable seat is perfect for travel or instances in which you know your kiddo will need to use the bathroom in public. It might feel nervous of the large larger toilet seat.
Frida Baby Fold n Go Potty Toilet Training Seat - White
These look so practical for cleaning up messes! We love Frida Baby in our home.
Frida Baby Poo + Pee Potty Liners
Essentials for the Parents
Parents deserve support during seasons of transition or challenge. Here are our recommendations or ideas that we know have worked for others.
If potty training feels overwhelming for you, I might recommend these relaxed patches. I have absolutely loved them!
The Good Patch Relax Plant-Based Vegan Wellness Patch - 4ct
Perfect for checking off successes when they come! Helpful for parents and kids.
Laminate Habit Tracker — give with joy
I did not read this book, but no people that did. I found that potty training has been relatively intuitive. If you’re looking for some parent face and resources, though, this might be a helpful book.
Oh Crap! Potty Training: Modern Parents Guide
We love Big Little Feelings and they offer a potty training class. We have not taken it but heard good things.
Class: Potty Training Made Simple
Here’s another book that provides helpful tips and tricks for the potty training process. So I’ve not read it myself, it has excellent reviews on Amazon.
First-Time Parent's Guide to Potty Training
There are a lot of messes during potty training. Wipes to make clean up easy is so practical.
Clorox Disinfecting Wipes
Another book/resource for parents that shares ideas for taking on this new season.
Good to Go: Fresh Take on Potty Training
Another take on this topic, taking it gradually. We’ve not read this one, yet.
One Try at a Time: Guide to Potty Training

Normalizing that everybody uses the bathroom is a huge part of potty training. This time to pee book is a really cute one.
Time to Pee! Board Book - by Mo Willems
If you want to implement a word system with your child for potty training, you might enjoy this magnetic jar and the way it allows for a tangible reaction to using the bathroom.
Magnetic Reward Jar
We have not used these with their kids, however, they look like a fun way to incentivize some children in the potty training process.
Color-Changing Toilet Stars + Storybook
Another super sweet book to help motivate your little one to use the toilet.
Potty Time with Bean - by Ms. Rachel (Board Book)
A darling take on using the bathroom with the characters being poo and toilet paper.
