Cozy books that became cozy games — and cozy games that became cozy books. Does it get any better than that? If you're a gamer and a reader, you can't miss this list. The publisher-built ones are leading a new trend, plus the older licensed adaptatio...

Books -> Games

These books inspired video games. Most of them were developed by outside game developers but there might be a trend where publishers are developing their own games!

The Dream Harbor cozy romance that started it: Jeanie inherits her aunt's café, falls for Logan the local farmer. It rocked TikTok and got super trendy!

Then came the game! Not a licensed tie-in: HarperCollins UK built it themselves. Match lattes, crush pumpkins, climb the leaderboard to become Dream Harbor's top barista. Competition running from Oct 27, 2026: top players can win a luxury coffee make...

You don't have to read the book before you play the game though. I haven't yet (but I'm going to - got it queued up on Spotify!). But I loved the game. Definitely a cozy way to spend an afternoon so I definitely recommend it. Plus, it's on mobile so ...

Tove Jannson has a series of books about the Moomin's who live in Moomin Valley. The books have touched hearts of millions and now those cute little Moomin's are in a game!

 Moomin: Midsummer Madness arrives November 12, 2026 on PC, Switch and Switch 2. It is a point-and-click adventure game with gentle puzzles and a hand-painted Moominvalley. Personally, I think it will be a great addition to my Switch library.

The game, Seasons of Books and Keys, is coming to Switch and Steam in winter 2026. It is a fully voiced mystery adventure based on Honobu Yonezawa's novel of the same name, published by Shueisha Games — the publisher's own games label, another publis...

The giant example of the old pattern: a studio licensed the books, and the games continue the story after the novels rather than retelling them.

The Witcher isn't exactly a cozy game but - it depends on how you play it. There's lots of room for exploring and discovery, which makes it cozy. That's why I recommend it on this list!

Seriously, this book (and movie) lives in the hearts of young women across the world. My neices watched the movie and read the books so many times.

Neil Gaiman's novella got a game back in 2009, the classic movie-era tie-in. The book was the starting point, but the game belonged to somebody else. Even if you didn't read the book or watch the movie when you're a kid, I'd recommend the game to any...

I loved the book Heidi when I was a young reader. I was fascinated by her advertures and I wanted to go live with her. LOL

Heidi's Legacy: Mountains Calling is that game that was created based on the book. It's a cozy, story-rich adventure inspired by the Heidi novels — care for goats, craft mountain goods, and help villagers rebuild. Steam in December 2026, Switch and P...

This series of books for children encourages kids to become detectives to solve a mystery and fills their minds with beautifully illustrated images.

Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective is a game based on the books that is equally enticing.  The cozy puzzle adventure from 2021 is beautiful.  Each scene is based on a double-page illustration from the original book. You can find the game on Steam. I would recommend this game to anyone who appreciates intricate art and puzzle games.

Who didn't have Dr. Seuss as part of their childhood? So many books! The pictures! The rhyming! And The Cat in the Hat is one of the most famous of all his books.

The classic 1957 children's book got a brand-new party game on October 30, 2026, from Outright Games in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises. It's a local-multiplayer party game for up to four players, Mario Party-style challenges full of playful c...

I recommend this game for families who want to enjoy gaming with their kids. It's a great way to engage with them.

Games -> Books

The games inspired the books. Some of the books are official to the games and released by the developers. Others work in partnership with the gaming companies to create stories based on the cozy games they love.

Yes, I know I've recommended this book before but how it's Stardew Valley - about the coziest game that ever existed.

This is the first official cookbook from Stardew Valley and it was published on May 14, 2024. It has more than 50 recipes straight out of the video game, organized by season.

This one honestly crack me up and IF you are an adult and IF you can handle some colorful language, I'd recommend you check it out. It's a more of a story than a book and it's based on the GameCube version of Animal Crossing: Wild World. The writer a...

A PG taste of what you'll get:
"I stumble around for a while in a stupor, trying to get my bearings. The camp isn't huge, but there aren't any paths or trails, it's just a featureless pile of dirt with a few trees. I wander past a run-down clothing store before I notice a shanty-t...
