Save
We're all trying to save money over here so here's the list of things you can save your money on!
I know professional chefs are gonna give me a lot of crap for this one. But I've used fancy professional knives that are hundreds of dollars and haven't been able to tell the difference between the cheaper ones and the super fancy ones. All you have ...
Knives
Guess what? You really don't need the $150 flatware. It's going to get beat up no matter what. So get the stuff that's quite a bit cheaper and will last just as long and be just as good. Plus it'll all end up looking the same in a few years anyway.
Flatware
Okay, if you're someone who grills as a sport and you like to make some really fancy things on the grill then this might not apply to you. But if you're more like me and you grill occasionally and only do one or two things on said grill, then you don...
Grills
Plates have the same principle as flatware. You really don't need something super fancy. You can even get really pretty patterns for less if you want. But spending a ton of money on plates is kind of a waste. No matter how expensive a plate is, it's ...
Plates
With plates being on this list, it's no surprise that bowls is too! Don't spend a ton of money on bowls. The nice thing about bowls too is that you can usually get matching ones to your plates if you're someone who needs that!
Bowls
While there are some utensils that are on the splurge list, the basics, like a spatula, spoon, etc you don't need to spend a ton on. These are easy to use and make your life so much easier when it comes to cooking!
General Kitchen Utensils
You don't need to spend more than $10 on a can opener. The ones you put money into are just going to give you pain and be worthless in a couple months.

Splurge
These are the items that are always worth the splurge!
Pots and pans are something you're going to use over and over again and trust me when I tell you, you're gonna want some really nice ones. Not only are the nicer ones easier to clean, but they last longer and these ceramic ones are my favorite!
Pots & Pans
These are perfect for roasting and baking. Like their pots and pans counterparts, they're super easy to clean and retain their heat really well. You don't even need to pre spray or put parchment paper down! They're that good!
Bakeware
No matter what you're cooking a good cutting board is an essential. I've worked on cheap plastic ones and they end up curling up or getting warped. And then some of the cheaper wood ones are always too small. Be sure to take care of your splurge wort...
Cutting Boards
This one might seem strange, but yeah, for sure splurge on those kitchen towels, babe. I know the ones at Target might seem fun and seasonal, but as my husband will attest, they suck and are terrible at drying things. In the kitchen you want towels t...
Kitchen Towels
I hate box graters, let me say that again. I. Hate. Box. Graters. They're difficult to clean, you have to make sure you have the space for all the cheese and you lose so much of it in the box. And if you're zesting something? Forget about it. Get you...
Cheese Grater
As tempting as it is to save a little bit of money and get the plastic food storage containers for leftovers, do yourself a favor and go for the glass. Your food will be happier and so will you.
Food Storage
A utensil you should splurge on? TONGS. I cannot tell you how many times I've been upset about my tongs sucking. I have two different pairs and I hate them both. A good pair of tongs will make your entire life easier.
Tongs
If you're a metal whisk person, great. But I personally love me a rubber whisk. These are great for using in pots and pans that can't have metal in them or they'll be scratched up. Spend that extra money to get yourself a good quality rubber whisk be...
Rubber Whisk
Get a good knife sharpener. Even if you're adamantly against getting the cheap knives, still get a good sharpener. Your expensive knives will be worthless in a few months without it.
