Spent two months with a keyboard just sitting on my desk surface, wrists bent at a terrible angle. The day I slid a proper tray underneath and dropped my hands to the right height, the relief was almost instant.

Before this, I was using a rolled up sock as a wrist rest. Not joking. Every gel pad I tried before was either too squishy or too firm. These are the ones that actually matched the height of my keyboard.

Typing on a flat rectangle for 15 years did a number on my tendons. The split and curved options felt bizarre for about three days, then I couldn't go back. My forearm tightness basically disappeared.

Fixed my wrists but still had neck pain until I realized my monitor was too low. Looking down all day was pulling my shoulders forward, which was tensing my forearms. Everything is connected and these closed the loop.

All the gear in the world won't help if your forearms are already tight and knotted. These are the recovery tools I use at my desk between meetings. Five minutes of rolling and stretching keeps the pain from creeping back.
