Anchorage is home to many beautiful trails and accessible parks. I've listed some of my favorites below, as well as the ones we'd take our out-of-state friends to.
Birder paradise! Many migratory birds stop here, so be sure to have your cameras ready!
Westchester Lagoon | Things To Do in Anchorage
A very scenic trail with a view of downtown Anchorage. It is biker-friendly and well-maintained. I would bike this trail with my family over the years.
Tony Knowles Coastal Trail - Anchorage
I used to ride these trails all of the time with my father and friends. It winds along the Campbell Creek, and if you're lucky, you might even see a moose along the trail.
Campbell Creek Trail
Commemorates the magnitude 9.2 earthquake that struck the area in 1964. When you walk along the trail you can see how that earthquake forever changed the landscape.
Earthquake Park
I always make it a point to start at the sun when I'm in downtown Anchorage then walk to Mars. If you love all things outer space, you'll LOVE this! Starts in downtown Anchorage and ends at Kincaid Park and is roughly 11 miles long.
Planet Walk
This park features a very dog friendly walking trail that loops around the lake.
University Lake Park
They always have something to see from ice scultures in the winter to beautiful blooms in the summer, I always make it a point to go.
Alaska Botanical Garden
Perfect spot for birders and wildlife enjoyers alike. This wildlife refuge is a stop for many migratory birds.
Potter Marsh
For the nerd in us all!
A bit off the beaten path, but if you need your nerd fix while in Anchorage, definitely check these places out.
Been going here for years now! They have comic books, figurines, cards, etc. There are two locations: one in the Dimond Center and the other location is in the Spenard Corridor.
BOSCO'S - Anchorage
If you're looking for a particular game or even if you want to sell one, make your way here. They have a great assortment of games both new and old and if they don't have it, they try to get it for you.
Video Game Depot
Another local video game store. Very friendly service and a good place to buy and sell your game systems or games.
Ian's Game Paradise
One of my personal favorites! If you're a fan of all things Sanrio to anime, this is definitely a slice of heaven.
Mochi Boutique
Locally owned and operated, this bookstore also happens to be one of the largest used bookstores in the nation.
Title Wave Books
If you're a fan of card games such as Pokemon or Magic the Gathering, you will want to make a stop here.
Glacier Games
Definitely make your way here. I've gone quite a few times over the years and they always have a different exhibits. For history buff

The go-to mall in Anchorage. Home to Alaska's only H&M and GAP store. Also has an indoor ice skating rink and movie theatre.
Dimond Center
Feeling up to a live performance or two? The PAC (as we call it) has shows and perfomances across different genres. Be sure to check their website to see what is showing when you're in town.
