Though I haven't stepped into a nail salon in literally so long I couldn't even give you the number, these are items I use religiously and would never recommend otherwise.. 
I started off just using regular Kiss Nails & my first box of Gellen Gel Polish. When I realized it was actually fun to do, and you could have lots of fun doing it… I branched out and began creating fun nails for friends & family. These are all the things I'd suggest if you plan to consistenly do your own nails!

You can find so many gel polish kits online.. my suggestion is find a cheap starter one like this. It comes with a TON of colours, the lamp & little things you can practice nail art with.

A lot of kits come with a base and top coat. However, this brand is the absolute best! It's a super thick formula and that's why I love it so much!! I only use the base coat on real nails, never acrylics

You can purchase these nails is many different shapes and sizes! The glue that these kits come with are unmatchedddd. Even just buying kiss nail glue off the shelf.. it's not the same glue whatsoever. 100 nails for $10-12?? Yes please

I am obsesssed with this acrylic nail holder. I prefer being able to paint and perfect my nails before putting them on. This allows you to do it!! It's a magnetic stand that allows you to use a soft putty to secure your acrylics on it
