I tested five different glass break detectors by clapping, dropping pans, and slamming doors near them. Most went off at everything or nothing. These are the ones that only triggered when glass actually shattered.

After the window scare I realized our doors had zero alerts. A locked door means nothing if nobody knows it opened. These cover front, back, side, and garage entries.

Our backyard had two spots where someone could stand without triggering the porch light. I mapped every dead zone around the house one night with a flashlight and fixed each one.

Alarms alert you, but reinforcement buys you time. A cop told me most break-ins are abandoned if entry takes longer than thirty seconds. These make windows way harder to force open.

Sensors tell you something happened. Cameras show you what happened. I wanted to see my phone and know immediately whether it's a real threat or the cat knocking something over again.

Our power went out during a storm last spring and every sensor in the house went silent. That's when I realized battery backup and cellular monitoring aren't optional. They're the whole point.
