Starting a gallery wall without a color theme is how you end up with a random mess that looks like a dentist's waiting room. These blush frames gave me an anchor color and everything else just fell into place around them.

A wall full of only frames starts to feel flat after a while. I threw in a couple of shelves between clusters and suddenly I had depth — plus a spot for that candle I kept moving around the apartment.

Filling frames with random printer paper photos from 2016 was my first mistake. Finding actual prints that worked together was when the wall went from Pinterest-attempt to something I was genuinely proud of.

Once the frames and shelves were up, the wall still needed a few weird little things to make it feel finished. These are the pieces that made visitors say the wall looked planned instead of random.

Spent my first year in this apartment putting holes everywhere like a maniac. Learned the hard way that good hardware means you hang once, not five times while crying and spackling.
