Scooping flour with a measuring cup was adding 30% more than recipes called for. The day I weighed my first cup and saw the difference, I almost cried for all those dense cookies.

Not all measuring cups are created equal. Some of mine were off by almost two tablespoons per cup. Found that out the hard way with a birthday cake that tasted like pure baking soda.

Pulled out my old measuring spoons one day and realized the ½ teaspoon was basically the same size as the ¼. No wonder my spice ratios were always off.

Parchment paper kept sliding around and my cookies baked unevenly. Half would burn while the other half stayed raw in the middle. Mats fixed that problem overnight.

Was mixing dough in a bowl too small and wondering why flour ended up on the ceiling. Proper bowls with grip and pour spouts changed the whole experience.

Found out my oven was running 25 degrees too hot. Every burned bottom and raw center suddenly made sense. A cheap thermometer exposed the problem in five minutes.

Opened my baking powder one day and realized it had been sitting there for two years, completely dead. Proper storage containers with dates saved me from another flat cake.
