Los Angeles
Owned by Quentin Tarantino. This single-screen theater went through a beautiful renovation and shows films on 35mm and 70mm.
Vista Theater
Also owned by Quentin Tarantino. This historic theater is one of my favorites in Los Angeles. Always on film.
New Beverly Cinema
Like all Alamo Drafthouse locations, you have comfy seats, small theaters, and food and drink service in your seat. I always enjoy watching movies here.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema DTLA
Art deco outside. 3 small screens with digital sound and picture inside.
Los Feliz Theater
Owned by Disney. This theater is epic. Always an experience seeing something here.
El Capitan Theatre
They show some of the most interesting and obscure films, cartoons, and projections you can find anywhere.
Brain Dead Studios
Super big and roomy. Love this place.
The Paramount
Big old school movie theater. Family owned. Great prices. It's a good time.
Gardena Cinema
If you ever get the opportunity to see something here do it. It's a piece of historic preservation. So nice.
Million Dollar Theater
New York
One of my favorite theaters. Seen so many movies here. Always a great time.
Nitehawk Cinema Williamsburg
Everything about this place is perfect. Small, intimate, cozy. I love this place on a Friday night or a rainy day.
IFC Center
Easily my favorite movie theater in New York City.
The Angelika
A very solid and cool old school theater in the East Village.
Village East by Angelika
I loved that they showed “Blessed" in this theater for a while. Saw that here on my birthday many years ago.
Cinema Village
Super cool little multiplex in Greenwich Village that shows new art-house movies and hosts special screenings.
Quad Cinema
Alternative screening space for independent films since 1970. Last movie I saw here was Paris is Burning. Love this space.
Film Forum
One of the most sleek and beautiful modern theater spaces anywhere on earth. I love their curation and film selections. They have the best snacks of any theater I've ever been to, and they even have a little cafe/bar hangout area upstairs.
Metrograph
Home to countless film festivals throughout the year. Comfy seats. Classic vibe.
Walter Reade Theater
So many good memories here. My fav was probably watching Get Out here.
BAM Rose Cinemas
Walk through the sculpture garden and then go down one floor to the theater. Free tickets if you're a MoMA member.
MoMA Theater
One of the larger Alamo locations I've been too but still a really cozy feel and of course food and drink service at your seats.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Downtown Brooklyn
San Francisco
One of my favorite places in the world to watch movies. I love hearing the organist play.
The Castro Theatre
Was my favorite place to watch The Room and The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The Clay Theatre
Great theater in Japantown that serves booze.
AMC Kabuki 8
Insanely cool, small, old school art deco theater in the Marina. Indulge in the caramel popcorn.
Presidio Theatre
I got invited to a special screening here once and it was a pretty amazing experience. The sound was so insanely good.
Premier Theater - Industrial Light & Magic
One of the oldest operating cinemas in San Francisco. Now run by a non-profit. Very cool old school one screen cinema.
Vogue Theater
Similar to the Vogue Theater this is also a super old and charming one. Richmond District.
Balboa Theater
I remember when this was an abandoned building for years and then Alamo moved in and revived this beautiful old theater space.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema New Mission
Home to indie film fests and all sorts of fun movies. One of my favorite in SF.
Roxie - San Francisco's historic, nonprofit cinema.
