Granny Smith
Great for baking or eating raw. I'm a big fan of these because they're tart with a subtle sweetness and medium crunch/crispness.
Pink Lady
One of my favorite apples for snacking or salads if you like a sweeter apple. Another one that I can't believe came from cross-breeding a Red Delicious.
Fuji
Stupidly expensive, but pretty good. Nicely balanced sweetness and tart and holds up very nicely for baking. $$$$
Honeycrisp

Great as a pie filling. More on the tart side. One of New York's best exports.
Cortland
This little Japanese apple is refreshing and extra crisp. Good for eating, baking, and sauces.
Crispin
One of my favorites. Tangy, aromatic, and ultra crisp. One of the best apples for baking or snacking.
Braeburn
A very basic, neutral, reliable, and accessible apple. This apple almost tastes like the default settings for an apple. Not amazing, but never ever bad.
Gala
This one is great for baking. It holds it's shape and is overall kind of mild in tartness and sweetness.
Rome
Saccharine sweet. Borderline too sweet, but I really like them from time to time. Great for baking and snacking on.
Jonagold
A highly underrated apple that belongs on your next charcuterie board. These are only in season for a short time in early fall, so get them while you can.

These apples are truly atrocious and by far the worst apples I've ever had.
Red Delicious
The opposite of crisp. The texture is not for me, and the flavor is dull. They look cute though.
Paula Red
Another extremely not delicious apple with the word delicious in it's name. A million barf emojis.
Golden Delicious
Absolutely not.
Opal
Look, a lot of people love this apple, but I don't get it. Allegedly these make great applesauce but idk.
McIntosh
These are pretty gross. They're dense, neither sweet nor tart somehow and leave a bad after tase in your mouth.
