Bowl by bowl some of my favorite Asian noodle spots in New York City.

This is how ramen shops should be. Casual, a little cramped, and serving big bowls of ramen for a reasonable price. I highly recommend their shoyu, miso, and spicy miso broths.
Minca Ramen
It's like if a Tokyo ramen shop and a New Orleans cocktail bar had a baby. This place rules.
NR
There's a great episode of Chef's Table on Netflix about this place. I love sitting at the counter because it has a view into the kitchen. I always order the same thing, a bowl of Tokyo Shoyu ramen and a Coca-Cola. 🤌
Ivan Ramen
My favorite ramen in Brooklyn. This place is such a vibe. They also have great snacks and non ramen things too.

This place lives up to the hype. Super delicious food in a minimalist yet warm space. Good for groups or a solo meal.
Momofuku Noodle Bar
I have a love-hate relationship with this place. On one hand, it's the real deal, a real Japanese import and all of the food slaps, especially the ramen. On the other hand, reservations for ramen makes my skin crawl.

The miso, the curry-spiced, the signature shoyu. All absolute bangers. This place is very small so bring one friend or go solo.
Nakamura
A little gimmicky, but really good ramen, and the space feels like you're in a Tokyo ramen shop. I would describe this place as ramen for beginners.
E.A.K. RAMEN by Machida Shoten West Village
No frills lunch ramen spot in Chelsea near Flatiron. The atmosphere is whatever/blah, but the food is surprisingly good. Great place for a quick ramen and beer.
Ajisen Ramen Chelsea
Love the vibe in here and eating at the bar counter. They also have a really amazing selection of Japanese whiskey.
Meijin Ramen
Very cozy ramen joint in the Upper West Side. I really enjoy their shoyu broth and love places that serve Ramune Japanese soda. A+
Jin Ramen UWS
Amazing udon noodle place in the village. Everything they do is on point. Do not skip dessert.
Raku
Cheap, delicious, spicy asf noodles. Anthony Bourdain approved. They have locations all over Manhattan. So good.
Xi'an Famous Food UES
Their Japanese style curry soba broth with a ramen noodle is so fucking good. When I lived in the neighborhood this was a regular hangout for me during the colder months.
Cocoron
Udon heaven. Handmade udon noodles served cold or in soup form.
Samurai Mama
Japanese noodle chain with solid udon options.
TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie
The kurobuta udon with bonito broth is super good. Their menu is wild and wacky with all sorts of interesting non noodle dishes too. Still on my to-do list to try their ramen bowls.
Izakaya Mew
Cheap, tasty, big portions. When it's warm, sit outside on a stool and eat some hand-pulled noodles with tofu. When it's cold, sit inside and eat the beef soup noodle.
Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodles
One of my favorite spots in all of NY. They just get it. It's perfect. All of their Thai noodles dishes and rice dishes are amazing.
Lovely Day
One of my favorite Sichuan spots in New York. Their dan dan noodles are my favorite, but every noodle dish is 5 stars here. If you like spice, you will love this place.
Han Dynasty
I'm convinced this is the best pho in lower manhattan. Let me know if you have a better rec.
Phở Bằng
Everything I've had here is amazing. These are my favs so far: mentaiko cream udon, beef curry udon, Korean spicy udon, salmon onigiri, and garlic cucumber.
