Alcohol markers destroyed every sketchbook I owned until I started specifically hunting for heavyweight paper. These actually hold up to Copics and Prismacolors without ghosting through.

Sometimes I want to throw down markers, then add colored pencil on top, maybe even a little watercolor. These sketchbooks survived everything I threw at them without buckling or bleeding.

Loose pads are fine at a desk, but I needed something with a cover I could toss in a bag and draw at coffee shops or on the train. These bound sketchbooks have paper thick enough to handle markers without looking like a mess.

When I started doing product design sketches and fashion illustrations, regular sketchbooks weren't cutting it anymore. These specialty pads are what professionals actually use when marker rendering has to look crisp.
