Being environmentally friendly is extremely important to me. I am always looking for things I can improve on or start doing. Every little bit counts!

I might have short hair but I still need shampoo! These shampoo bars lather up, smell great, are made in the USA, and are completely plastic-free. They're also women-owned, cruelty-free, and participate in 1% for the planet. What more could you ask for?
Driftwood is currently my go-to as I have oily hair.

I like a good scrub to wash away the day, so this solid face exfoliator is perfect for me. It is completely plastic-free, packaging included!
GLOWING Solid Face Exfoliator
Plastic-free deodorant that works and I don't react to! I have tried other plastic-free deodorants but they either didn't work well enough or they caused my skin to react due to the baking soda. Native works great AND I don't react to it; even with their non-sensitive variety. It still has some baking soda but in quantities where I don't react at all.
Definitely pricey compared to big brand deodorant but unfortunately that is usually the case for going green. Using their subscription definitely helps keep the cost down.
Currently using Charcoal and Coconut & Vanilla.
Plastic-Free Deodorant
Plastic-free razor that costs significantly less over time. Let's face it, big brand razors are extremely overpriced and extremely wasteful. Even with replaceable heads, you're buying expensive, flimsy blades that contain a ton of plastic. The Leaf Razor is all metal has replaceable blades that are both cheaper and higher quality. The multiple blades of this razor plus the flexible head make this a great razor for use on the body.
For my face, I go with a single blade but everything else I use the Leaf. Oh and did I mention my wife also uses it?

Plastic-free lip balm, seriously? Seriously. Not going to lie, I love Burt's Bees (and they're local to me) but every bit of plastic counts so I've switched to this alternative. A slight downgrade to be completely honest but it still works well and t...
Juicy™ Nourishing Lip Balm
This is a great cotton round alternative. You can get a ton of uses out of each pad and they are far more solid than your typical cotton round. While I don't wear makeup, I use these for facial toner and find them vastly superior than traditional cot...

For the kitchen
Get rid of the plastic bags and use reusable ones instead! These bags are tough and easily washed in the dishwasher.
Stasher Bags
Hear me out on this one. It is expensive so it is not going to be for everyone, but if you're looking to reduce waste, this thing is awesome. I traditionally compose, but I don't have the property to do large amounts. This is where Reencle comes in; break down food waste fast so that I can compost ALL of my food waste and not just what fits in my compost bin outside.
The Reencle is my top pick because there are no subscriptions (helping that upfront cost feel better), it has a large capacity, it breaks food down VERY fast, has a long-lasting filter that you can replace cheaply yourself, and it comes with microbes... Some other great features is a dry setting if you have too much liquid and purify if it has any smells starting to come out (which has been rare).
While I do my best to reduce food waste, it is impossible not to have some, especially with a toddler. The trips to the trash are not few and far between!

Who doesn't like sparkling water? With the SodaStream you can eliminate all of the impact from shipping what is 99% water in a can and use your at home water to make the same drinks. Not to mention save some money! I really enjoy the Bubly flavors ...

A reusable water bottle is a staple. I like my trail series hydro flask due to its lighter weight, given I take it EVERYWHERE.

For the house
My family grows a lot in the space we have in our backyard and that requires a bunch of water, especially the produce we grow. A rain barrel is a great way to make use of the rain on a sunny day to keep the plants happy! Any will do but I went with FCMP as it is made in North America with recycled materials.
Rain Barrel
Downspout not aligning with your new rain barrel? This will help! What I like about this one is I can attach a longer hose if needed and I can adjust the flow rate into the barrel when it is full and want the run-off elsewhere.
Downspout diverter for rain barrel
Another expensive item but is so much fun to track. Since late-2022 my panels have generated 39.5 MWh, a 28.2 ton CO2 reduction.

Yep, I'm going there. Recycled toilet paper. It's not Charmin ultra soft but it is 3-ply! I love this company because they actually follow through on their claims. They donate 50% of their profits, over $12 million as of 2025 and are Certified B corp...
100% Recycled Toilet Paper | Who Gives A Crap USA
Use a foaming hand soap? Stop paying for water! I love Blueland's concept; if you have running water, avoid paying for what is mostly water in a plastic container. Add the concentrate tablet and skip the additional shipping weight and plastic! Bon...
