Shampoo
You don't need "curl shampoo." You just need something that won't weigh your waves down.
This is especially true if you don't use sulfates, but you may need to clarify sometimes. If you use anything with silicones, you need to be clarifying every once in a while. I use this 2x a month or more if I feel like my hair needs it.
OUAI Detox Clarifying Shampoo for Build Up
The baddie on a budget alternative to Ouai Detox. You honestly don't need anything fancy to clarify because you are really just trying to wash out any build-up that can easily weigh down your waves. This one could be a bit drying so I wouldn't use it...
Essentials Daily Clarifying Shampoo
If your hair is wavy, you don't need any "curl shampoos/conditioners." Especially if it's thin and easily weighed down like mine is. This is sulfate-free, but many wavies actually benefit from sulfates. I dye my hair so I prefer not to use them. This...

Conditioner
The same goes for conditioner. Any "curl conditioners" aren't made for us anyways. Use whatever makes your hair feel moisturized without weighing it down.
The same goes for conditioners. Any "curly" conditioner is probably going to leave your hair stringy and overmoisturized if you have wavy hair. This lightly moisturizes and doesn't weigh my hair down. I have an oily scalp, and I find that I can actua...

Hair Masks
Here are some hair masks & treatments that I love. Your favorites may vary based on your hair needs, but I have an oily scalp with dry ends, and I also get my hair colored, so it's a bit damaged.
For when your hair is feeling dry. This leaves my hair SO SOFT
Deep Moisture Mask | Guacamole Whip
I use this 1x a week or so. You may need to use protein sometimes, especially if your hair is high porosity. If you're not sure of your porosity, read more about it online (and also know that the water float test is not accurate). When hair is string...
Elizavecca CER-100 Collagen Hair Protein 100ml
For when your hair REALLY needs protein. Look into the signs of moisture overload because that is what protein will help with. This will literally bring your hair back to life, but it smells like eggs, so do what you want with that info.
Two-Step Protein Treatment
Leave-ins
Stop using "curl creams." Seriously. Your wavy hair will likely thank you because they are not made for us. In fact, anything with the word "cream" might just weigh your hair down unless you happen to have very thick, dry hair.
This is a great option for a gel that does not leave your hair feeling hard or crunchy. It is a liquid foam consistency rather than a gel and has soft, light hold. You might want something with more hold, and that's okay; look into other options for ...
curl foaming gel | definition + defrizz
This is what I use for detangling and heat protectant because I diffuse my hair. Curly / wavy folks usually brush their hair wet, which is when it's the most fragile, so use something to detangle. This hair primer is super light and doesn't weigh my ...

Styling
Styling really depends on the look you're going for. This is just what works for me.
If you struggle with thin and flat hair, this will get you right!! This adds volume and some light hold to my waves, locking them in for the day without making them feel hard and crunchy. It's a very soft hold.
volume dry texture spray | grit + light hold
For drying your hair, you could air-dry, plop, or diffuse. Some wavies benefit from the bowl method, but that's just doing too much for me. I diffuse because it adds volume. This is the diffuser I use and love, but you could use pretty much any diffu...
