I’ve spent the last few years working on using low-tox options around my home, as well as trying to reduce the waste we produce
These are some of the best products I’ve found to help with this, that I would recommend to others and also rebuy myself
Homemade cleaning sprays are so easy to make!
Glass Spray Bottles
A few drops of these work wonders in so many areas of the home, I keep a selection of around 8-10 different oils!
Pure Essential Oils
Avoid cutting microplastics into your food! These wooden boards come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes and are naturally antibacterial
Wooden Chopping Board
Makes wonderful coffee which saves buying it when you’re out, and I love that you can buy a replacement insert instead of having to replace the entire thing
Glass Cafetieres
Buying washing powder rather than pods or gel is a great way to reduce waste as it comes in an easily recycled cardboard box
Washing Powder
Such an easy swap to make to reduce the plastic in your home (and your mouth)
Bamboo Toothbrush
I’ve replaced so many things in my home with cotton washcloths: disposable make up wipes, a plastic shower puff, my kid’s baby wipes, and more! Just chuck them on a hot wash and they’re good as new
100% Cotton Face Cloths
I fill these with yoghurt, smoothies, or fruit purées for my children, saving the plastic waste of the shop bought pouches and keeping the ingredients healthy
Reusable Pouches
Such a good alternative to clingfilm or plastic bags - just warm with your hands for extra flexibility
Reusable Beeswax Wraps
I’ve replaced the plastic bottles of soap in my bathroom and kitchen with these and it’s so much gentler on my skin
Bar Soap
We buy the ‘Baby’ unscented version and it’s so gentle on my children’s skin - it’s natural, minimal ingredients and comes as a liquid or solid bar
Castile Soap
Natural ingredients, slightly hard to put on as it’s so thick but definitely better than covering myself in chemicals
Natural Sunscreen
Wooden spoons! Such an easy low-tox swap for the kitchen
Wooden Cooking Utensils
Takes some getting used to cooking with but so worth it
