Old Soul is a classic and the Weatherstone is a unique space with a cool outdoor patio. Food is solid. I prefer their brewed coffee to their espresso. They also offer kombucha and beer.

Balance has a new shop on 24th & J. I love that oat milk is the default here and that they have other plant-based milks. I tried their summer special Mazapan latte and it was delicious.

I had friends come to town who asked me to take them somewhere where the food obviously wasn’t from a Sysco truck—Paragary’s, with its focus on farm to fork, was the perfect fit. The patio is beautiful, and it is also a great place for a birthday din...
Paragary's
Octopus Baja surprised me with the care they take with their veg dishes. While there’s not a lot of options, what they have are some of the best veggies I’ve had in Sacramento!!
Octopus Baja
Mother is a big and beloved name in veg eating in Sacramento, for good reason. I used to dream of their fried green tomato sandwich during the years where they weren’t operating.
Mother Restaurant
Some of the best vegetarian food I’ve had in Sacramento. It is worth trying to get a table here.

I love brunch and these are the places in regular rotation when I go out
Tower Cafe is a Sacramento classic. It has a fantastic outdoor patio but waits can be long on the weekends. They are known for their French toast, but get the half order unless you are ordering it for the table. I prefer their blueberry cornbread pan...
Tower Café
Morning fork features classic diner breakfast with a little extra flair. They can be very busy on the weekends and do not take reservations. You put your name on a list at the door and your entire party must be present to be seated.
The Morning Fork

InstaPhysique (Midtown Sacramento)
I think it is a Sacramento yoga rite of passage to find yourself going through Solfire at some point. They have solid classes and several rooms for practicing.
