My top 10 favorite Stephen King books ranked with 1st place at the top. Ten of his best horror and science fiction novels.
This is my all time favorite Stephen King novel that I read every couple of years. The audiobook was so enjoyable that I am glad I added to my collection of The Stand copies. A plague and a battle of good against evil.
The Stand (Movie Tie-in Edition)
As a vampire book and movie lover, Salem's Lot is my favorite. It is truly terrifying and I am so emotionally connected to these characters after years of re-reads. Horror with heart is the best kind.
'Salem's Lot (Package May Vary)
I have never liked clown horror, but this book is so much more than clowns. It is a true coming of age story filled with some truly terrifying events. I love the characters. It's very long but you can really take your time enjoying the story.
It: A Novel
I have never been so anxious reading a book before, but the payoff is great. A science fiction story about traveling back in time to stop the assassination of JFK, but really it's a love story.
11/22/63: A Novel
Under the Dome is nonstop action and grabs you from page 1. You truly cannot stop reading to find out the fates of the people living in a small town that find themselves suddenly trapped under a huge glass dome.
Under the Dome: A Novel
I love Stranger Things and this book is very similar. Kids with superpowers and people trying exploit them...it's a great journey.
The Institute: A Novel
Read The Outsider book before watching the tv show to truly appreciate the story. The adaptation actually did a good job, but the novel is better.
The Outsider: A Novel
I know it is weird to rank Doctor Sleep above The Shining, but I really enjoyed it a lot more. The addition of new characters as well as finding out what happened to Danny as an adult was great. And Rose the Hat is one of my favorite Stephen King vil...
Doctor Sleep: A Novel
The Shining is a classic and so much more than the movie. Stephen King obviously identifies as Jack Torrance, so the book is a true insight into his mind. There are scary scenes in here that will haunt you forever.
The Shining
Misery is another Stephen King book that I preferred as an audiobook. Lindsay Crouse does an excellent job channeling Annie Wilkes. This novel was very stressful, but I also could not put it down wondering how this man would ever escape his captor.
