For most of 2024, I lived and worked in a small town on the outskirts of Toulouse. In that time, I made the city my own. These are the places I made sure to bring my family and friends to when they came to visit.

A gorgeous hostel, just a tram ride from the city centre. It's located just next to Les Halles de la Cartoucherie (also featured in this list), which is perfect for breakfast or an evening meal. The onsite amenities are great, too.
Eklo Toulouse | The affordable, eco-friendly and design hotel
Places to eat
I frequented this market hall for my morning coffee and croissant when staying at Eklo (also featured in this list). It had a more modern feel than most market halls, but the same incredible food and drink selection. A nice spot for remote working.
Les Halles de la Cartoucherie
The best sandwiches ever. It's a fromagerie and a charcuterie all in one. You can select your own combinations, or select one of the choices on the menu. The bread comes straight from the local bakers.
Le Détaillant - Sandwich de Qualité, Épicerie
I sat here on a rainy afternoon and ate the best Cassoulet (a dish that is traditional to the region) of my life. The decor and atmosphere are very typically French, which I loved. The staff are wonderful, too.
La Santine | Toulouse
Places to visit
This beautiful building sits on the main square, but its interior is surprisingly often overlooked. Entry is completely free and inside you'll find incredible architecture and an impressive art collection.
Toulouse Mairie Métropole
A surprising find in the middle of the city, but a place worth visiting. The Jardin Japonais (or Japanese Garden, if you prefer) is a beautiful, tranquil place to spend an hour or two.
