Eleven books, honest ratings, and all my favourite (and not so favourite) reads from June.
I was so excited for Freida’s newest release, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Still an entertaining thriller, just not one of my favourites.
The Divorce
This completely surprised me. It gave me major How to Get Away with Murder vibes, and I couldn’t put it down.
Dissection of a Murder
This was exactly the kind of self-help book I needed. It encouraged so much self-reflection, and I found myself highlighting something on almost every page.
Are You Mad at Me?: How to Stop Focusing on What Others Think and Start Living for You
The perfect book to kick off my summer reading. Elin Hilderbrand never misses, and this one completely lived up to the hype.
The Hotel Nantucket
I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Emily Henry’s writing just isn’t for me. I finished it, but unfortunately it wasn’t my favourite.
Book Lovers
Was it the best book I’ve ever read? No. Did I finish it in one sitting and completely break my reading slump? Absolutely.
Best Offer Wins: A Novel
I loved how Elin blended family drama with historical fiction. It made this feel different from her other books in the best way.
Summer of '69
The perfect follow-up to Summer of ’69. My only complaint is that I wished it had been longer.
Summer of '79: A Summer of '69 Story
I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about the ending, but overall I really enjoyed the journey. It was a little slow at times, but worth sticking with.
Yesteryear
I loved every single part of this book and never wanted it to end. Easily one of my favourite reads of the month.
Golden Girl
This one just wasn’t for me. I found myself confused more often than intrigued, and the story went in so many directions that it never fully came together. I also couldn’t help but notice the trad wife trope seems to be everywhere in thrillers lately...
