DAR Library
This is a quiet and functional place to do serious reading or research. So it is not a casual coffee shop or public lounge.
James Madison Memorial Building
Anyone 18 or older can register for a Folger Researcher ID to use the Reading Room for serious study and work. Anyone with a free timed-entry ticket can view the Main Reading Room from the visitor gallery, but you cannot sit at the desks to read.

This is a very popular tavern serving American food. It just has that perfect vibe for bringing a book while getting a little something to snack on.
