As an autistic support teacher, I have spent the last 6 years working with autistic children. Each child is unique and I have found that they all benefit from different items. Check out some of my favorites here.
I love this busybook! It is a hands on opportunity for kids to work on different skills.
This pillow is great to practice and reinforce fine motor skills.
Chewys are great for kids who put non-food items in their mouth. This is a safe alternative and will help with their oral senory needs.
My students love these! They are calming when my children are overwhelmed and needs to be calmed.

Individuals with autism often struggle with their play skills. Toy food is a great way to work on play skills as well as practice interpersonal communication by pretend playing restaurant.
Often, individuals with autism have difficulty identifying and expressing their feelings. Stories such as this one can act as a model to support learning about feelings.
Some individuals with autism also have sensory needs and physical needs. Adaptive shoes are a great alternative to support children who may wear braces or need a modified shoe.
My students LOVE these, but I have to say, the sound drives me a little crazy. But, it helps them and that's the point!
