I've been a fan of the Xbox since the original console, and recently upgraded to the latest Series S. It's been really great and I've explored a lot of next-gen games, as well as classics. This list shares some of my all-time favorite games that I've...

RPG Games

Definitely my favorite genre of games. I grew up with RPG games like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, and Chrono Trigger, and over the years, really enjoyed exploring the direction in which the genre has gone.

Not really an Xbox One or Xbox Series game, but I did buy the Xbox 360 version on my console and have been really enjoying it. The story in Final Fantasy XIII is really amazing and I believe it's an underrated entry in the series.

Definitely worth noting specifically for the Final Fantasy franchise. I love the fact that you can drive a car and have this gang of four working together. The final boss fight was also really great.

The game takes you on a really incredible journey and really captures what Tales games should be about. Fun gameplay and the difficulty scaling is great for those who prefer a challenge.

I personally love Egyptian lore so this game instantly connected with me. It's fun and while it doesn't have some elements that I miss from previous instalments, I still had a great time playing it.

Let's face it - a list of RPGs won't be complete without the iconic Skyrim. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but every RPG lover should try it at least once.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Racing Games

I've always loved racing games. While not my absolute favorite genre, I remember the first time playing Grant Turismo on the PS1. Since then, I've been a fan of some racing games.

Burnout Paradise Remastered allowed me to enjoy an iconic destructive racing game on a newer gen console. It's a really great game and the combination of different vehicle types, along with the destruction elements, really takes it to the next level.

I know not everyone will agree on this, since this is technically a mobile game ported to console. However, I've been having a lot of fun playing through the campaign.
Asphalt Legends UNITE

Adventure / Action Games

I really like the ability to explore worlds and discover things in games, so that's why I had to add adventure and action games as a genre. They're so diverse and versatile.

Tomb Raider has always been a really great adventure game. I started with the earlier titles on the PS1 and they were great. Then came the PS2 versions, which really added to what the game already had to offer. Now, we have a full blown action-advent...

The best entry in the entire Grand Theft Auto series, and I've been really enjoying it since GTA5 arrived on the Game Pass. Great way to pass the time while waiting for GTA 6 :D
Grand Theft Auto V

Online Games

While I'm not the biggest fans of classic MMOs and MMORPGs, I do enjoy a couple of online games now and then.

Genshin Impact is probably the first Gatcha game that really caught my attention. I've been on and off, but I always come back to explore new areas when there are updates added to the game. My favorite location would be Mondstadt as it brings back me...

Fortnite is really the ultimate shooter for people who want a fun game. It's not as serious as Call of Duty. I like the fact that they experiment with colorful elements while still having a story embedded that continues to go on through chapters and ...

Platformer Games

Platformer games like Crash Bandicoot and Croc were some of my favorites growing up. Now, I still explore the genre regularly. These games are really great when I just have 10 or 20 minutes for a play session.

I grew up with Crash Bandicoot and it was always really fun to play. I must've completed some of them multiple times. So, of course, when they came out as a Trilogy on Xbox, I had to give them a try!

For me, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot are two must-play platformers, whether you've played them before or not. The Reignitated Trilogy brings back the original Spyro games from the PS1 and offers a more modern experience on the latest gen consoles. It's ...
