items If a friend asked me what they absolutely shouldn’t miss in Boston, this is the list I’d send them. These are some of my favorite places around the city, from classic attractions to hidden gems.
This is the place to be when it’s warm out. Food vendors, performers, beautiful statues and flowers, not to mention the nearby Old North Church, make this a must see.
Enjoy Boston Common
Perhaps one of the most unique tourist attractions in Boston, the duck boat tours take you on a ride throughout the city before transforming into a boat for the aquatic portion of the tour.

Walk The Freedom Trail
You can’t get more Boston than Fenway Park. I highly suggest visiting around late spring and early summer for the most fun.
Go to a Red Sox Game
One of the most beautiful areas in all of Boston in my opinion. It’s particularly beautiful before sunrise during the summer.
Walk Around Boston Harbor
I’ve been going here since I was a child. My favorite exhibit to this day is the penguins. Definitely get tickets ahead of time as it’s usually very busy here.
Explore the New England Aquarium
This one’s for me foodies! You have to go to the north end for dinner at least once. In addition to amazing Italian food this area is also known for its espresso martinis.
Eat in the North End
The Roadrunner is for all my music lovers out there. Featured frequent shows from both local and national talent. Please note it’s standing room only but I do believe you can get VIP tickets for the upper level.
Catch a Live Show at the Roadrunner
If you’re an art lover this museum is a must see. Students still get in for free with student ID. Highly suggest getting tickets ahead of time.
Visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
I’ve been to this museum many times both as a child and an adult and it’s been fun for both! I’d you’re bringing kiddos they have onsite food court and gift shop as well.
Visit the Museum of Science
This is another great option for history buffs. You can actually step onto the ships where you’ll learn about the ships history.
Visit the USS Constitution Museum
This is a true Boston staple. Bova’s has anything you could want from cannolis, cookies, pizza and calzones. They’re also open past midnight in case you get late night cravings for something sweet.
Get a Delicious Pastry at Bova’s
That’s right, you heard me. You can actually throw tea in the harbor just like the colonists did almost 300 years ago. This is such a cool idea and the gift shop is awesome.
Re-Enact the Boston Tea Party
Where else can you buy a ticket to see a whale up close in its habitat? Definitely recommend doing this when you visit. You’ll likely never get this close to a whale again.
Go Whale Watching
This 294 step monument has the best views of the city once you reach the top!
Climb Bunker Hill Monument
I did this with a few friends last year and it was a cool mixup of history and local folklore. Definitely enjoyed this one and tickets weren’t expensive either.
