Mastectomy Must Haves!
I am currently going through treatment for Breast Cancer. July of 2023, I unfortunately had to have a double mastectomy. I had both breasts removed and spent 6 weeks going through a very tough recovery. These Items I have listed, I COULD NOT HAVE LIVED WITH OUT. During recovery, anything that helps give you more comfort and makes things a little easier will be a godsend! you are not only recovering physically, you are recovering emotionally. Be kind to yourself, and let others help you!
Pillows and Sleep Aids
MUST HAVE ! I had two. One of these ones, and the other one I have listed for the car. 6 months later I am still sleeping with one.
You will absolutely need and want this for sitting, driving, sleeping. 6 Months later, I am still using them for comfort in that area. Life saver.
I am telling you now, you will not be able to lie flat for a LONG time after your surgery. This item was a life saver to get sleep while all you do is stay in bed on stay on the couch…I will list less expensive ones as well, as long as you stay elevated.
Really adds comfort under the arm after your surgery.
What to wear!
Nice items to have to wear around the house that are easy to put on and take off. comfy to lounge in and make life easier.
You need somewhere to put your drain bags when showering. You can safety pin to a belt, which I did for a while….but this is just so much easier and less stressful (I was super emotional and fiddling with anything really made my anxiety worse) $10….just do it.
Not the prettiest, I know. BUT instead of saftey pinning the drains to your clothes, this just makes it a lot easier. Its really comfy too.

Size down for this. you want it to be like a hug. It zips down the front to easily put on. The straps unhook at the top for easy access to the wounds.
If you have had any lymphnodes removed, this shirt is a musthave to keep the fluid moving and reduce any swelling
If you have lymphedema or arm swelling, this really helps with circulation, I also have the glove
i have the arm and the glove compression garment. It really helps with circulation. Right through my whole cancer treatments I have found these useful
Other Items I Loved
BUY THIS…If you can, invest in this. I LIVED in our recliner (I still live in it. lol) It helps lift you to your feet as your arm and chest strength with be null for quite a while.
If you can….DO IT! My body has been so so sore from all of my treatments. When I tell you after sitting in this chair for 20 min, there were tears. Of relief. I hadn't felt relief like that in months.
I found that after my surgery I was laying flat, not moving around as mucy as I did. This helped my legs from swelling and with circulation
OK, hear me out. Reaching and bending and um, wiping are all hard after surgery. Plus, you cant shower etc for a while after. This just made life easier and kept me clean. Trust me.
