Junk journaling is basically permission to save the pretty paper, the old ticket, the ribbon from a package and every other little thing you normally have no idea what to do with. 😂 This is where I’d start if you want to make one: easy starter kits,...

Start Here: Your First Junk Journal
You do not need an entire craft room before you make page one. These give you a journal, a pile of interesting pieces, or enough of both to get past the blank-page part.
Â
This is the kind of starter kit I’d choose when you want somebody else to gather the good little bits for you. Papers, tickets, tags, charms, pockets, buttons and trims mean you can start layering instead of spending three days shopping for supplies.
Four packs gives you enough variety to experiment without every page looking like twins. I especially like a mixed kit for beginners because junk journals are supposed to feel collected, not perfectly coordinated.

This one gives you a notebook plus a big mix of papers, stickers, cards, frames and washi. Good if you want one box to do most of the heavy lifting while you figure out what style you like.

This is the rabbit hole. Vintage paper, botanicals, butterflies, old-looking labels and printable bits are what give a junk journal that layered, collected-over-time look.
Â
Butterflies, old invoices, tags, postcards and advertisements are basically junk-journal catnip. 😂 Because this is printable, you can use the pieces at whatever pace your pages need.
A big printable set is useful when you want backgrounds, pockets, tags and little layering pieces without hunting them down one at a time. The floral cottagecore look is especially easy to mix with things you already have.

Maps, vintage writing, grids and tags give you more than just flowers to work with. I like having a color theme like this because it makes random scraps suddenly look like they belong together.
These are meant to look like rescued, timeworn paper fragments, which is pretty much the whole charm of junk journaling. Tear them, layer them, tuck them behind something and do not worry about perfect edges.

Two hundred pieces sounds excessive until you start junk journaling and suddenly every tiny translucent sticker has a purpose. 😂 The mix of matte papers and washi-style stickers gives you both backgrounds and finishing pieces.

For the page that does not want to be flowers and beige. This mixes celestial art, old script, newspaper-style pieces and art-inspired designs so you can take the journal in a completely different direction.

Once the paper is down, these are the things that make a page feel finished. Use them for borders, tabs, layers, little labels and all those details you notice when you flip through later.
Â
Ninety-six rolls is not a subtle introduction to washi tape. 😂 But the different widths are useful for everything from tiny edges to bigger strips, and the vintage themes make sense for this kind of journal.
Sticker books are great when you want detail without adding a lot of bulky layers. Peel, stick, overlap, move on. This hobby does not need to become an engineering project.

Old word stamps make a page feel less like a scrapbook kit and more like something collected over time. The imperfect vintage print is part of the point here, not something you need to fix.

Paper is great, but a little fabric or lace immediately changes the texture of a page. Use snippets on tags, page edges, pockets or anywhere the journal needs something softer.

Not glamorous, but eventually all those beautiful scraps have to stay on the page. 😂 A basic paper glue stick is one of those supplies you will reach for constantly.

Tracing paper is such an easy way to add a translucent layer without covering up everything underneath it. Write on it, tear it, make a pocket or layer it over a printed page.
