As someone who works professionally with dogs, I want to share some of my favorite large dog breeds. Some of these are high energy and will require proper training to yield reward.

Shepards are by far my favorite breed. They are incredibly intelligent, while also very loyal.
This breed is extremely smart, brave, and in my experience friendly. They make excellent companions.
Doberman Pinscher
This breed is super affectionate and playful, but also very loyal to their companions. Be prepared to brush OFTEN!
Alaskan Malamute
This breed is incredibly strong and athletic. They are the perfect companion if you are someone who runs long distances.
Siberian Husky
Strong, independent, and protective. What more could you want in a dog? I have seen german shepherds become amazing family and working dogs. They are very resilient dogs.
German Shepherds
If you’re someone who wants a gentle giant:
These dogs have such an incredible and calm temperament. They are incredibly friendly and gentle.
Great Dane
A very loyal and protective breed. Big teddy bears that will never leave your side.
Saint Bernard
These dogs have a long guardian history, and will always stick by your side.
Great Pyrenees
This breed is usually calm and gentle, despite their enormous size. They are very loyal and protective, winning over everyone.
Mastiff

Goldens are the most playful and loving dogs you’ll ever meet. They love the water, and are great companions for someone with an active lifestyle.
Golden Retriever
This is the breed I grew up with! They are beautiful because they come in all different colors. You can play fetch with these guys endlessly!
Labrador Retriever
These dogs are very hard working and playful. They have the sweetest personalities, and are always eager to please.
Australian Shepherd
Collies are such a lovable breed. They will win you over with their playful and loving personality. They are very loyal dogs and they make the perfect addition to a family!
Collie
The sweetest fluffballs out there. This breed is always eager for playtime and adventure. They are very affectionate and loving.
Samoyed

These dogs are extremely smart and trainable. They are playful, energetic, and they are some of the funniest dogs you’ll meet.
Poodles
These are some of the most intelligent dogs you’ll ever meet. They are hardworking and with proper training make outstanding companions.
Belgian Malinois
Intelligent working dogs that are very graceful and loving.
