At our house, December means cocoa, cat cuddles, and a Christmas movie every night till the 25th. Here are the ones that make even the cats stop judging (for a minute).

Christmas Action Films
They Do Exist
Not an obvious choice, but it does have some Christmas cheer and some fun creepiness.
Gremlins (1984)
Agree or disagree Die Hard still goes down as a Christmas movie in my book. Yippee ki-yay!
Die Hard (1988)
While there is an argument that Die Hard is or isn't a Christmas movie I'm sure people don't think the second one is, but I'm declaring it is. It makes my top 25 list every year.
Die Hard 2 (1990)
Old Time Classics
Sometimes the classics are the best
An oldie but a goodie. Watch it every year. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
White Christmas (1954)
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a savior, which is Christ the Lord." - Who doesn't remember this speech spoken after Charlie Brown yells “Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?”
A Charlie Brown Christmas (TV Movie 1965)
And he'll be back again one day. Frosty is an old classic. It's not my favorite Christmas movie, but it's Frosty!
Frosty the Snowman (TV Short 1969)
Classic. Misfit toys. A bright red nose saves the day. Can't ask for much more.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (TV Movie 1964)

Classic Christmas Comedy
Home Alone (1990) ⭐ 7.7 | Comedy, Family
Not as good as the first, but better than the 3rd. 4th or 5th
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)
Part 1 of an amazing Christmas trilogy. I watch this every year. When a regular guy, gets caught by a clause.
The Santa Clause (1994)
The saga continues. Caught up as Santa this clause is the Mrs. Clause problem.
The Santa Clause 2 (2002)
Jack Frost wants to have his own holiday and he's willing to trick Santa to do it.
The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006)
An instant classic. Buddy the Elf comes to NY to find his dad.
Elf (2003)
This is my new favorite Grinch movie.
The Grinch (2018)
When their daughter won't be home for Christmas the parents decide to not celebrate Christmas but go on vacation, much to the dismay to the whole community.
Christmas with the Kranks (2004)
Ever need to try to get that toy last minute? Ever had to compete with someone else to try to get it? This movie is all about that.
Jingle All the Way (1996)
Much better than expected. Instantly added to my Christmas list. All about rediscovering your Christmas spirit.
Watch The Christmas Chronicles | Netflix Official Site
The second Christmas Chronicles was actually pretty good. It also made my list instantly. In the first it was about finding Christmas spirit, this one is all about finding redemption.
The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two (2020)
This is a magical story of how Santa came to be. The story is well told and not at all what you expect. I did not expect to like it, but I now watch it every year.
Klaus (2019)
Kinda of Chessy but Fun
Sometimes a little cheese is good especially at Christmas
A classic take on the Christmas Carol, but with Muppets!
Watch The Muppet Christmas Carol | Disney+
A newer cute Christmas movie. Think Oceans 11 but with pre teens and a Christmas twist.
The Naughty Nine (2023)
The film leans into rediscovering wonder at Christmas.
Watch Dashing Through the Snow | Disney+
Not the movie to watch the year you've lost a parent, but a wonderful movie about our loved ones being there for us.
Jack Frost (1998)
Formulaic, completely cheesy, but cute dogs for Christmas can't really pass that up.
The Search for Santa Paws (Video 2010)
Sometimes the magic is in us all along. A fun Christmas movie for the family. And who doesn't love “yogurt pants”.
