I’ve been a beauty fanatic my entire life and skincare more specifically for the last 5 years When I tell you using filtered water has been such a game changer for my skin and my hair…. Just thank me later trust me lol So not to get too scientific on ya but there are tons of contaminants in our water and that’s why I’m a brat about the water I drink!!! Just a few contaminants in faucet water: Microorganisms, (e.g., E. coli, Giardia, and noroviruses), inorganic chemicals (e.g., lead), organic chemicals (e.g., atrazine, glyphosate, trichloroethylene), and disinfection byproducts (e.g., chlorine) Google what each of those contaminants do to your body if you really want to know… as far as your skin: ❌Chlorine is used as a disinfectant in our tap water and can cause skin rashes + allergic reactions and can dry and irritate your skin (so if you have dermatitis or eczema… this is terrible for you OR it may be causing it) ❌Hard water contains high levels of minerals that can disrupt your skin’s barrier and lead to clogged pores + breakouts ❌If you have sensitive skin it is 100% necessary to wash your skin with filtered water At a happy level, your skin’s pH should be under 5 (~4.7) so you want to keep your water as close to this as possible. My suggestion is to test your water’s pH and if it’s higher than 5.75, get a filter asap!
