Where to eat in Naxos
Naxos has everything from family run mountain tavernas and waterfront seafood restaurants tto beachside lunches and hidden village gems. These are the places I'd happily go back to, whether you're chasing fresh seafood, a long Greek lunch, or a sunset dinner with a view. Expect generous portions, local produce and plenty of spots where the menu hasn't changed much because they've been doing it well for years.

This is the highest mountain in the Cyclades and Mount Zas according to Greek Mythology, Zeus was raised here. If you're up for the hike, the summit rewards you with incredible 360 degree views across Naxos and the surrounding islands. Even if you don't go all the way to the top, the scenery along the way is spectacular.

Halki was once the capital of Naxos and is one of the prettiest villages on the island. It's known for it's neoclassical buildings, boutique shops, art galleries and the historic Vallindras Distillery where Kitron Naxos' signature citrus liqueur has been produced since 1986. It's a great place to slow down, wander the laneways and experience a more authentic side of island life.

Filoti is the largest village on Naxos. It's nestled at the base of Mount Zas. It's full of narrow streets, local bakeries and cozy cafes. Don't miss the village square, it's the heartbeat of Filoti where locals gather and you can feel the village's charm.

Koronos is a traditiona mountain village with real old world charm. it's known for it's winding paths, stone houses and a slower paced life. Take a stroll through the village and discover the little artisan shops and panoramic views of the valley below.

Moni is a really peaceful village tucked in the mountains. It's not as touristy, so you get a real sense of quiet island life, with amazing narrow paths, old chapels and amazing views of the valley below.

Ano Potamia is a charming village nestled in the valley - its known for it's traditional archtecture, winding streets and old watermills. Its a perfect place to slow down, take in the country side and truly feel the traditional heart of Naxos.

Kourounochori is one of the greenest villages on Naxos, surrounded by natural springs, olive groves and citrus treees. it's a peaceful pplace to wander through traditional laneways and experience a quieter side of the island. Nearby you'll find the historic Jesuit Planace and some of the oldest farming landscape on Naxos making it a great stop for anyone interested in local history and village life.

Melanes is best known for it's ancient marble Kouros statue, one of the most impressive archaeological sites on Naxos. Set among olive groves and fertile farmland, the village offers beautiful walking trails, traditional tavernas and a glimpse into the islands rich history and marlbe-carving heritage.

Mountsouna is a quiet fishing village on the east Coast of Naxos known for its crystal-clear water, waterfront tavernas, and laid back atmosphere. Once the island's main export port for emergy mining, you can still see remnants of the old cableway system that transported minerals from the mountains to the sea. It's a great spot to escape the crows, and experience a slower side of Naxos.
