I loved reading this book because it's written from the perspective of a commoner and not a Jew. It was a refreshing view of WWII.
The Last Bookshop in London: WWII Historical Fiction
Even though this book is not fiction, it reads like fiction. It's the story of a Boston city-girl and her life after marrying a Canadian mounty man. The story isn't gripping or intense but simply real, raw life surviving as a Canadian settler.
Mrs. Mike: The Story Of Katherine Mary Flannigan
I'm a sucker for true stories. This story of Frank McCourt will tear at your heartstrings and have you crying in no time.
Angela's Ashes (1999)
I love historical fiction and this is the first one I've read from the Vietnam war. What an incredible story that could be so real to what many of our veterans had experienced.
