I'll be adding to this often. I've picked a mixture of books that I refer to again and again, alongside books that might be old and out of date but give me a lot of pleasure. There's some great writing here.
A magnificently opinionated look at French wine from a veteran American importer.
Kermit Lynch
Old book on small producers but worth reading especially if you're interested in the origins of the ‘natural wine’ movement. Also very funny.
The Wild Bunch: Great Wines from Small Producers
Evocative and full of larger than life characters, if you're even slightly interested in Italy, then you have to read this.
Palmento: A Sicilian Wine Odyssey
The funniest book about wine ever written. Just brilliant.
The Accidental Connoisseur: A Wine Journey
Jefford is the master. Nobody thinks as deeply about wine as he does. I only wish someone would commission him to write a new New France.
The new France
Incredibly well-researched look at the changing culture of drinking.
