About $410 for five, and proof the theme doesn't need money to work. The Higonokami is a 130-year-old design with no lock and no clip, the spork costs nine dollars, and both are made like someone's name is on them. Because it is.

About $2,080 for five, and the tier where every category steps up in mechanism rather than finish. The nail nipper is not a bit — Suwada hand-forges and hand-sharpens them in Sanjo, and people replace theirs after twenty years, reluctantly.
Thirty-three layers of damascus over a VG-10 core at 60-61 HRC, micarta over stainless liners, made in Seki. The step up from the Higonokami that's about mechanism — a real liner lock and a reversible clip — not just about looking nicer.
