Where to eat
We recently tried this place for their matcha and banana bread and it was fantastic!
Hala Tree Cafe Waikiki
This place is very no frills but the food is amazing! Don’t miss the avocado and peanut butter banana toast! Mmmm so good! Don’t forget the açaí bowls too!
ALO Cafe Hawaii
This place is almost always busy so line up at an odd hour to score yourself a seat! The food is flavorful, fast and comforting!
Marugame Udon
Love love this place! It gets very busy so if you don’t mind getting take out it’s so much faster! Just skip to the front and order on the right. The grilled fish is amazing and don’t forget the home fries!
Paia Fish Market Waikiki
This place has great breakfast! Come early and if you don’t want to seat yourself, go to the restaurant on the left. The one on the right you order yourself and find your own seat. I always get the breakfast plate and it’s so good!
Island Vintage Coffee Waikiki
Was recommended this place by our driver. Great casual Japanese izakaya. Love the how fresh the food is, reminds me of Japan!
ZIGU
Best poke in Waikīkī in my opinion! Line goes fast but you can also order online and pick it up. We always come here multiple times and it’s always just as good as the last time!
Maguro Spot
Authentic Hawaiian food! What’s not to love!
Helena's Hawaiian Food, 1240 N School St, Honolulu, HI 96817
The Malasadas here are perfection!
Leonard's Bakery
We love this place for coffee and pastries but come early to avoid the line. A few tricks to skip the line, walk in to the right where the bags of coffee are and buy one, you can skip the giant line and order your own coffee and food. Another tip is ...
Kona Coffee Purveyors
Places to stay
Stayed here for 4 nights with 2 kids and got one of the penthouses. Do not sleep on the pent house! The price for it was so affordable! The penthouse includes a separate room, lounge area, spacious shower, a kitchen area and a huge balcony! It was am...
Wayfinder Waikiki
We stayed here with two kids at the time, one a baby. We had one of the suites which was perfect as we had separate areas. The room had an area for eating (behind a small separator) and a day bed in the corner for my other daughter. It was a great lo...
The Laylow Waikiki, Autograph Collection
We stayed here a few times, once with kids and once without. Rooms are standard size. View of the ocean is amazing from the rooms. Pool is small for the amount of rooms. Central location though which is great.
OUTRIGGER Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel
What to do
This hike was moderate but views from the top were gorgeous!
Puʻu O Hulu (Pink Pillbox) Trailhead, Kaukama Rd, Waianae, HI 96792
I actually thought this was challenging. I don’t love heights and going down was worse than going up since I didn’t want to slip but the views up the top were fantastic!
Koko Crater Railway Trailhead, 7604 Koko Head Park Rd #7602, Honolulu, HI 96825
This was an easy trail but just be aware it is very hot! There was no shade at all so we were dying out there!
Makapu‘u Point Lighthouse Trail, Makapuʻu Point Lighthouse Trail, Waimanalo, HI 96795
We came here for the sunset, was amazing!
Puʻu O Hulu, Waianae, HI 96792
Been here a few times and the kids still love it! Easy walk from the main area of Waikīkī.
Honolulu Zoo
If you’re driving around the island with kids this is a great place to stop. The dolphin show was great!
Sea Life Park Hawaii
I love seeing the Kualoa ranch and the hills from here! It’s absolutely stunning!
Kualoa Viewpoint, Parking lot, 49-479 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744
Came here a few years ago. Nice to come to learn about the history.
