Book 2 in the series. This one is the hardest for me to read, mostly because I love Leah's character in these stories and she really has a rough time in this one. But it's necessary for the story. Just hang in there. It's worth it!

Book 3 in the series. Has some difficult scenes (trigger warning: infant death) but ends so well, and is such a challenge to my faith. I always cry in this book and I'm not a crier usually.

We got this last year and read it for Christmas season. The illustrations are GORGEOUS! And we love the little animals. I will say I read it to my 10 and 8 year old and I did have to explain portions of it. They did rewrite it a little for kids, I think but it's still a good way to expand their vocabulary.
