I'm not saying it's a bad game… wait, yes I am. These games are all better than Monopoly.
Try to decorated your house with other people, and watch how it never goes how you think since most people don’t agree.
Décorum (Standard Edition) : Video Games
Pretend you know the value of things like houses, apartments, condos, and see if you can bluff your way into a trade! Good for any group, but OBVIOUSLY Real Estate people should play this.
For Sale Bidding & Bluffing Game
It is what it sounds like, 2 - 6 players trying to become a real estate tycoon. This isn't your mom's Monopoly.
Acquire | Board Game
It's more of a land acquisition game than it is Real Estate Agents and Brokers buying up property, but it's still one of the easiest to play and teach for people new to modern board games.
note: This is the Big Box version! If you're scared, there's a base game with far fewer pieces in a much smaller box.
Carcassonne Board Game Big Box w/ 11 Expansions
This is rated higher than Catan if you ask most people who are “in the know”, so if you're Catan-atonic and need something fresh (yet somehow still old and classic), then you might want to give Castles of Burgundy a chance.
Castles of Burgundy
I'll be honest, I haven't played it. I'm guessing it's like Castles of Burgundy, but you'll have to do your own research on this one.
The Castles of Tuscany
Building a city counts as Real Estate, right? Well even if not, many of you might remember SimCity and this is like the board game version of that.
Suburbia
Technically, you're building real estate… in the version of a “wonder”. I'll tell ya, I didn't really like this game. It sells like crazy, so you might enjoy it.
7 Wonders Architects
THIS is the OG (after Monopoly) that gets most people into ‘modern’ board gaming. Argue with each other, love each other, manipulate, doesn't matter as long as you don't get screwed over by the robber. You'll like it.
CATAN Board Game (6th Edition)
It might be bad, but it's rated high. LMK.
Paycheck to Billionaire Board Game
Remember that guy who told everyone to buy gold and wrote a book for President Trump once? Well, he also has a board game based on his 2nd best selling book.
Rich Dad CASHFLOW Board Game
Retro Games
Some people only know the classics and haven't ventured into modern tabletop gaming. If that's you, then I'll help to curate that list as well.
You see, there are modern board games then there are these… the games that people of legal drinking age think of when they were kids and heard about board games.
We'll call them vintage, or classic. Old games that were unrelenting and had no catch-up mechanic, but families felt forced to play them so you learned the less of how unfair life is (pun intended.)
Your Sorry, Boggle, Scrabble, Connect Four, Trouble, Chutes and Ladders; even Chess and a base game of Monopoly can grace your bookshelf. I won't buy the lot for this price, however I'd PROUDLY display and review them if someone bought them for me.
