The standard burp cloth covers about 40% of the splash zone. I learned this the hard way at a dinner party when my daughter soaked my sister-in-law's silk blouse. These actually drape wide enough to protect real estate.

Some babies spit up a little. Mine would projectile launch half a bottle across the room. Single-layer cloths were useless. These thick, layered options were the only things that kept my shirts dry.

Nothing worse than a burp cloth sliding off your shoulder mid-burp and landing on the floor. Then you're holding a screaming baby with one hand and fishing a cloth off the ground with the other. Contoured shapes fixed that problem overnight.

Regular burp cloths absorb the spit-up, sure. But then the moisture seeps right through to your shirt anyway. I didn't realize waterproof backing was an option until month three. Would have saved about fifteen shirts.

When people asked what I wanted at my baby shower, I said burp cloths and they laughed. Nobody laughed three weeks postpartum when I was going through eight a day. These sets are the ones I'd tell any expecting parent to put on their list immediately...
