My fingers hovered about eight inches from the floor for an embarrassing amount of time. A strap let me get the full stretch without rounding my back like a scared cat.

Before blocks, I compensated by rounding my spine in every forward fold. A physical therapist told me that was doing more harm than good. Blocks brought the floor closer so I could keep my back straight.

Rolling out my hamstrings for five minutes before practice made a bigger difference than I expected. Went from wincing in forward fold to actually breathing through it.

Found out my tight lower back was limiting my forward fold just as much as my hamstrings. A massage ball dug into spots a foam roller couldn't reach, especially around my SI joint.

Consistency mattered more than intensity. Having a visual routine pinned to my wall kept me from skipping days, which is where all my previous flexibility attempts died.

Kept quitting my stretching routine because my knees hurt on hard floors and I hated being uncomfortable. Sounds silly, but fixing the comfort problem fixed the consistency problem.
