why do I have a glass shelf??? Because I use this as a makeup palette for mixing my foundation. I like it better than acrylic or stainless steel as I feel its easier to clean and I can hold it up to my face to check for shade matching. I like this size as its a nice large palette. Scott Barnes has a similar palette but its over $30 and not available in the UK so I got creative and I'm very happy with my results.
