I'm a New Yorker, born and raised. I also have a lot of friends who don't live in New York—so when they visit New York and ask me where they can get a GOOD cup of coffee, I get so excited :) I've spent the most time on and below 14th St, so that's where most of my recommendations will be.

Soooo learning how to bake is on your list of resolutions this year! When I first decided I wanted to give baking a try, I felt so unequipped—I didn't know why it was important to buy sticks of butter instead of butter in a tub, or what kind of tools to buy. Over time, and from teaching some beginners' classes, I've been able to come up with a list of staple items and ingredients every baker should have in their kitchen. Let's get started!
