Kyoto
One of the most beautiful and well designed hostels, felt more like a fancy hotel! If you like to combine comfort with style and aesthetics, this is the hostel for you!
Piece hotel sanjo - Piece Hostel Kyoto
Not an overly social hostel but more quiet and peaceful. Good if you want to have a proper sleep and relax after exploring all day.
Facility - 旅寛HOSTEL祇園 | Ryokan Hostel Gion
A traditional small guesthouse in a more residential (non touristy) part of Kyoto. A bit further out and not close to the main busy areas but really nice if you want to get away from all the tourists.

This is my absolute favourite hostel I stayed at in Japan! The beds are super comfy, private and the pods have good sound insulation (so no annoying snoring). they also do a free 1hr evening beer hour which is a great way to meet other travellers!

Very large hostel in a great central location. Dorm room is super big and beds are spacious and private, I stayed in the female only one. Really friendly staff
Really chill and relaxed hostel, I personally found it to be very social if you’re open to starting the chat with other travellers! Slightly further out from the main crazy part of Osaka too
