If you’re looking for low-stimulating show recommendations, then look no further. I currently have a 3 year old (and 8mo) that’s full of energy, big emotions, and is an absolute sponge soaking up everything he sees and hears. We try to limit screen t...

One of my 3yo’s favorite shows. He loves trains and dinosaurs, and it teaches about the different eras of dinosaurs. It’s a win win in our household.

A personal childhood favorite, it’s nostalgic. Growing up with no cable, I learned so much from this show. From lessons on how to share, how to be friends or a good person, to actual educational lessons this show has so many benefits.

I love this show because it helps teach your child how to manage big emotions like anger, jealousy, and various other big emotions.
Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood

Disney+

Aside from the original Disney movies (of course) I had to include a couple nostalgic shows I rediscovered upon having my first child. It’s interesting to learn how low-stimulating a lot of the shows we grew up watching were.

My personal favorite that I’ve been trying to get my toddler to love the way he loves all things cars. The way they incorporate lessons for both parents and children is a science I need explained.

Another childhood favorite of mine! Whenever I was at a family members home that had cable, this was one of my go-tos. Personally love it now for my toddler because of the use of both Spanish and English in the show.
Handy Manny

Extremely low-stimulating, teaches how to navigate emotions and friendships, and how to be kind. My toddler would fall asleep watching this as an infant and now loves it as a toddler.
Bear in the Big Blue House

Netflix

A little bit different, but overall still beneficial. My 3yo is currently learning to share and better socialize so these have been coming in really handy.

The most adorable little arachnid that changed my entire perspective on spiders (well jumping spiders I should say). Incorporates lessons on friendship, kindness, sharing, and how to properly express your feelings without being malicious, this childr...

I guess you could say my 3yo has a lot of favorites because here goes another! I enjoy the way this show encourages friendship, imagination, overcoming challenges, all the while not overstimulating my child.

National Geographic — but for kids, narrated by kids, and animal experiences related to real life experiences.
If I Were an Animal

Paramount+

The nostalgia.

A slow paced show from my childhood — encouraging thoughtfulness, patience, problem-solving, and a positive outlook on life. The optimism is my best loved part.

The original Blue’s Clues. Because if it’s not Steve, we don’t want it. One of my top shows for the sole reason being the way it incorporates actual child development research to help encourage communication among many other skills.

As a child, I disliked Little Bear. I felt like some things that occurred were “common sense”, but as an adult now it’s bittersweet to realize it’s because of how quickly I had to grow up and mature. Rewatching this with my children now, it’s refresh...
Little Bear

YouTube 🤮

I absolutely despise YouTube. I try my best to avoid letting my children watch YouTube but desperate times do call for desperate measures at times. Here are a couple honorable mentions, regardless of how much I dislike YouTube (for kids).

Yes. I can understand how you find her annoying, but most of the time children actually love her for many reasons. She is actually an educator and has extensive education in child development. Not my personal preference, but definitely can help in a ...

As we say in my household, “the Mexican Ms. Rachel” lmao. We love Ms. Isa down bad in our home. Ms. Rachel, but in Spanish! I was able to learn alongside my toddler new songs and phrases in Spanish.
