Find out just how bad humans can get.
Reread recently. Still fantastic and heartbreaking.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Strong second entry into the series. Last line of the book always hurts.
Catching Fire - (The Hunger Games): 9780545586177
Strong end to the trilogy. Heartbreaking and doesn't pull punches.
Mockingjay (The Hunger Games) by Suzanne Collins
I have mixed feelings about this one. I feel like a few characters shouldv'e been developed better, and the games didn't feel as intense as I hoped being that there's double the tributes. The character cameos were overdone (some made sense, others felt showhorned in).
Its still a good book but I didn't love it.
Sunrise on the Reaping (the Hunger Games)
World where parents can choose to unwind their child- basically give you to the government for parts.
Unwind (Unwind Dystology) by Neal Shusterman
A quick fun read. Muderbot is hilarious. They've hacked their goverment systems not to have free reign to kill people or anything nefarious. Oh no. He just wants to watch his favorite soap opera.
All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) by Martha Wells
In this world your notified that day you will die. What would you do knowing it's you last day on earth?
They Both Die at the End (Series, 1)
The novella that inspired Edge of Tomorrow (Kill. Die. Repeat.). Quite different from the movie but very enjoyable and very short.
All You Need Is Kill Novel by Sakurazaka
Fantasy
Escape into other worlds.
Fantasy world based on ancient Mesoamerican cultures. Start of the Earth and Sky Fantasy series. Main character becomes the vessel for a wrathful god after his mother ritually sews his eyes shut.
Black Sun (Between Earth and Sky, #1) by Rebecca Roanhorse
Second book in Between Earth and sky series. Book is mostly set up for the final book.
Fevered Star (Between Earth and Sky, #2) by Rebecca Roanhorse
First off love the artwork for all the covers for this series but this is hands down my favorite. As a Finale it was ok. Still enjoyable but left me wanting because it didn't feel quite finished.
Mirrored Heavens (Between Earth and Sky, #3) by Rebecca Roanhorse
Welcome to Basgiath War College where survival means you you might get a dragon. Page one had me thrown into this world. Our main character has a lot to overcome but she's smart and resilient even when she fails.
Overall fun read, good distinct characters , with a solid storyline with stakes.
Tairn is my fav.
Fourth Wing — Rebecca Yarros (The Empyrean, #1)
Stakes have risen, and not just during dragon battles. Some messed up stuff happens here. Love that we get more of Violets friends who are all real ones, but also crack me up. Still like Violet but she's also 20 and can be a bit of a dumbass but homie is in over her head and dealing with a lot.
Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros
The world hass expanded even more. Violet and Xaden's relationship continues to be tested in this one.
That ending though. I almost wished I had waited to read this series until all the books were out so here I am now waiting with the rest of you.
Onyx Storm — Rebecca Yarros (The Empyrean, #3)
A lovely addition into the ATLA world. Kyoshi is a street kid who in a very unexpected way learn she's the Avatar.
Avatar the Last Airbender: Kyoshi Duology
I liked this Duology. I enjoyed the Avatar being a spy.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Legacy of Yangchen
It's ok. Not as strong or engaging as the Kyoshi books but an easy read.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Reckoning of Roku
Some strangers get recruited to work together for a mission - kill the God King.
Who can actually be trusted? Fun characters, set in a fantasy world inspired by Korean mythology. Has a bit of Clue vibes.
Five Broken Blades (The Broken Blades, #1)
We start right where we left off. Shoutout to the author for including a character list (including pronunciations and deaths) and summary of previous book.
Characters still likable, events grow more intense. Magic relics have a significant cost to the user which effects the choices they need to make.
Four Ruined Realms (The Broken Blades, #1)
A good conclusion to this series. The characters fight hard and as smart as they can, but war is cruel and we lose chracters we care about.
Three Shattered Souls (The Broken Blades, #3)
Very slow to start. Last ¼ of the book is when it starts to get interesting. Not overly scandalous in the naughty parts. Gets more entertaining with the other books.
A Court of Thorns and Roses (Book 1)
Much more interesting than the previous book. If you go into this series in the mindset that this is more trash tv/soap opera reading its very entertaining and quick read.
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
I was entertained overall. Story has good bones but to many things happen, that are a little to convient. But it is also nice for a not doom and gloom ending. (shouldv'e left you know who dead tho)
A Court of Wings and Ruin
The Holiday Special lol
A Court of Frost and Starlight
Entertaining. Nice to get Nesta's POV. Wish some story / character choices were better.
Someone smack Rhys upside his head.
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
An old favorite. Sirena doesn't want to call sailors to their deaths anymore chooses isolation on a small island. Then an injured sailor is left by his crew. They form an endearing friendship and fall in love. But does he love her? or is it just her ...
Sirena by Donna Jo Napoli
Urban Fantasy
Fantasy but in modern like times.
Meet Elena the only female werewolf because her feral cajun ex-boyfriend bit her. 10/10 recommend. The book not getting bitten by your ex. Great world building. Each book expands the world even more.
Bitten (Otherworld) - Armstrong, Kelley: Books
Kelley Armstrong writes great characters and her books are always fun read with interesting plots.
Here we learn there are other supernatural's in this world. Here's your intro to witches in the series and sorcerer cabals, shamans, vampires oh my!
Stolen (Women of the Otherworld, #2) by Kelley Armstrong
Magic mafia family who's magic has a kick back (example: uncle loses a finger when he kills someone). Main character starts to unravel whole lot of lies his family told him.
White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black
You like urban romantasy, dragons, and a demon lord who summons a demon who chooses to take the form of a Newfoundland dog in the human world? This shit is a hilarious wild ride.
