NEED as much lighting as possible, as dorm lighting usually sucks. This lights are so cute and I love them!

Humidifier, but make it cutesy.

I didn’t have one my freshman year and god did I miss ice more than ever. The little freezers usually don’t work so don’t bother with ice trays. My friend a dorm over had this ice maker and I went over often just to ask for some ice.
Ice Maker
Definitely add posters or prints, but they can be of your own (printed pictures) or posters from a favorite movie/musical/etc. or tickets! Just find things to fill the walls.

Get a smaller one, but if you have room! Shoes were the main thing which made a mess in my dorm freshman year.
Shoe Rack
My dorm last year had private bathrooms but next year I’m living in the one dormitory on campus with suite dorms, meaning I share a bathroom with two other people and will need this.
Mesh Shower Caddy
You don’t realize how often you’ll be wanting to check the time when your phone is across the room and the microwave/oven/etc. is out of sight. Plus it’s cute and can be an alarm clock to actually get you out of bed on time!

School Supplies
This surprised me. I had not used a binder for my schoolwork since first grade and then I went to college and, at least in my experience, they were practically essential. Get the black ones that are medium to large sized, never the small ones.

Invest in the good mechanical pencils because you will be needing them (unless you take notes on an iPad, but mechanical pencils are still good to have for worksheets, physical flashcards, etc.)
Mechanical Pencils
If you are taking labs, they oftentimes have notebook checks which you get graded down for if there is pencil markings. Get pens! These specifically are more like markers, but they’re cute and easy to use so I like them.
