I lived in Milwaukee for 6 years while I was going to school to become a physical therapist. Here are all the reasons why I love it and still go back regularly - things to do and places to eat all the beer and cheese your midwestern heart desires
Map
Home of my favorite cheese curds to date. Go on a brewery tour here to enjoy some of the best beer in the area, but expect to require a designated driver or rideshare to get home… you will need it!
Lakefront Brewery
I spent many margarita nights here with my friends. Love their American spin on the tacos too, plus the salsas alone are worth the 2 hour drive up from Chicago for me
BelAir Cantina - Milwaukee, WI
Such an awesome museum to explore right on the lakefront path of Lake Michigan. It's a beautiful sight both inside and out
Milwaukee Art Museum
I love this market so much. Special shoutout to C. Adams Bakery - every baked good is incredible, especially the red velvet cupcakes!!
Milwaukee Public Market
A must-try delicious brunch spot. If you're a fan of bloody marys, this is the place to be.
Café Benelux
Follow up any brewery tour with a giant slice of Ian's pizza and thank me later!
Ian's Pizza Locations in Milwaukee, WI
Loved going to brewers games and this stadium because it is enclosed when the weather isn't' as nice!
American Family Field
The less expensive little sister of lollapalooza that usually takes place in late June/early July! If you're a music festival person, Summerfest so worth it!
Summerfest
Another great option for a brewery tour!
Milwaukee Brewing & Distilling Company
One of the best burgers in Wisconsin I've ever had, and their frozen custard is to die for! Check out their frozen custard flavor forecast before heading there to makes sure your favorite flavor is on the list for that day
Kopp's Frozen Custard: Welcome to Burger + Custard Heaven
My favorite rooftop bar in Milwaukee, situated inside the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel
The Outsider
Situated just outside of city of Milwaukee in Wauwatosa, WI, this is one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots in the area! Everything on that menu is great! Be prepared for long wait times though, so get there early to put your name in as they do ...
Blue's Egg + Bakery
Casual dining for breakfast/lunch/dinner, and of course you need to grab a slice of pie for dessert
Honeypie Cafe
The pie-to-go version of honeypie! Love this option when I don't want to do a full sit-down meal. A hand pie is the perfect breakfast in my opinion
SmallPie
Very similar menu to Cafe Benelux, so just another alternate option depending on where in the city you are staying
Café Hollander - Downer
This will forever be one of my favorite places for coffee. In fact, I stock up on their coffee grounds each time I visit Milwaukee so I always have my fix on hand. The turtle mocha is my favorite drink on the menu. Also a great spot to sit down to re...
Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. - Milwaukee
A fun arcade bar on the famous Brady St!
Up-Down MKE
Catch a Milwaukee Bucks or my alma mater, Marquette, basketball game at the Fiserv Forum!
