South central Kentucky/Bourbon Trail favorite places to eat!
I’ve lived in South Central Kentucky my whole life and I’ve been exploring this state’s food scene long before “farm to table” was a hashtag. 🙌 The Bluegrass and Bourbon Trail region is seriously underrated — and if you’re only stopping here for the bourbon (which, fair 😂), you are leaving so much on the table. Literally. I make regular trips up for great meals, wine tastings, outdoor theater, vintage shopping, and anything else that sounds like a good time on a random weekend — and over the years I’ve found some hidden gems, the locals-only favorites, and the spots worth driving an hour for. These aren’t chain restaurants or tourist traps. These are the places where the food is made with care, the service feels like family, and half the ingredients probably came from a farm down the road. If you’re planning a Bourbon Trail weekend, a girls trip on Lake Cumberland, or just a Kentucky road trip and want to eat WELL — save this list. You’re welcome in advance. 😄 What you’ll find here: • ✅ Locally owned restaurants worth the drive • ✅ Farm-to-table and locally sourced favorites • ✅ Hidden gems the tourists haven’t found yet • ✅ Perfect stops before or after bourbon distillery visits • ✅ Updated regularly as I discover new favorites Know a spot I need to try? Drop it in the comments — a lifelong Kentuckian is always on the hunt for the next great meal.
