Just for Fun
Bookish odds and ends
I have this guy in my office at work, and I get more compliments on him than anything else I have.
Unemployed Philosophers Guild Lincoln Plush
Fiction, with a touch of thought provoking still. I have actually bought this book twice. I left it on an airplane before I finished reading it, but HAD to finish reading it. Since then, I have re-read it several times. LOVE this book!
The Time Keeper|Paperback
This book is also in my recs. Love this for some self-are time!
Zen Monkey and The Lotus Flower Coloring Book: 50 Mindful Coloring Pages Featuring Zen Monkey Tranquil Meditating, Blossoming Lotus Flowers, for Adult Escapes, Relaxation and Stress Relief|Paperback
Non-Fiction - Thought Provoking
Enriching my mind has become a daily practice. I normaly have 5-6 books unfinished at a time, and then almost perfect timing, I will finish a book, just when it's lesson or learning is most needed.
I read the book and loved it so much I downloaded the audiobook as well, for when I am on the road. It really works to do a mental reset when you need a tune up.
Atomic Habits: Easy Way to Build & Break
2
When I picked this book up to read, I was working 80 hours a week with no end in sight, despite knowing what was really important in life. Perfect timing on this one.
The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO Story
Wow, did I need this one. I finished this on an airplane and had such peace when I got off the plane. If you struggle with letting do, let this book help you unpack this.
The Art of Letting GO: Enjoy Emotional Freedom
This is a really good read, that you didn't know you needed to read.
When Breath Becomes Air: Pulitzer Prize Finalist|Hardcover
I have owned this book for 20+ years and when my mom had a stroke I would read her pages in in. Big fan of all Norman Vincent Peale books, but this is my favorite.
The Power of Positive Thinking: 10 Traits for Maximum Results|Paperback
This was recommended to me by a friend, when I was going through my separation and custody case. I re-read this once a year just for a mental health check in and resilience.
The Art of War (Signature Classics)|Paperback
This is a great read if you need a reminder that your body absorbs everything that you put into it. I started to re-evaluate everything from food to stress to overthinking to other people's energy.
The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma|Paperback
I bought/read this after a break-up with someone I ended up thinking was a sociopath, probably to make myself feel better for not noticing it sooner. Really a mind bending book.
The Sociopath Next Door|Paperback
Just keep this on your nightstand or in your desk drawer at work. 1 page a day. Even if you aren't an avid reader, this is an easy mindful start/end to your day, and you can keep it on repeat for years. I love this book to start my day and keep me...
The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living|Hardcover
Love this for a small daily read. Very much like the Daily Stoic, you don't have to be an avid reader for this one. Each story is 1-2 pages and shared a story and then a lesson. So good to keep grounded daily. I would pair this with the Daily Stoic to get your daily reading and mindfulness in, even if you are busy.
The Zen Monkey & Lotus Flower: 52 Stories to Relieve Stress & Find Happiness
This book really made me think and I love that. I have read this more than once and each time I take away something new.
The Examined Life: How We Lose and Find Ourselves
I recently re-read this book, and it isn't exactly what it sounds. It is me letting you go, and you can be some many people. The first time I read it, it made me want to let someone go. This second time, it made me want to let go of versions of myself.
This Is Me Letting You Go
This was a bubble bath read for me. I would soak in the tub and read this and get so lost in the words, and then just soak, felling like my mind was grounded.
