Catch the ferry from Circular Quay to get good views of the city from the water, then enjoy a relaxing few hours at the beach.
Manly and Manly Beach
Beachfront pub and hotel. Old school pub on the ground floor, rooftop bar with beach views, cocktails and great food upstairs.
Hotel Steyne
Rooftop restaurant in the Hotel Steyne, Manly. Excellent views, Asian menu with great dumplings, salt and pepper tofu and sauteed greens.
Miami Rice Manly
Stayed here one night with a friend visiting from Canada. It's a bit of a 1980s time machine of a hotel in a great location to see and explore Sydney.

Bustling cafe serving great coffee in The Rocks. Worth wandering down the laneways to discover.
ASLAN Coffee Roasters The Rocks
Went here for their Thursday late opening session. It was 2 for 1 on tickets which made it far more affordable.

Friendly staff, great range of stock and sizes.
Gorman - Paddington
Great space for a coffee and snack brunch. Highly rate their mini panino from the cabinet for the perfect savoury breakfast/brunch.
Barbetta
Small but perfectly formed selection of books and stationery. Would have bought some books here if my TBR wasn't too big!

Nice place for lunch, good to sit alfresco but in the sheltered on a hot and humid Sydney day. Enjoyed their pumpkin bowl and watermelon, mint and apple juice.
