Tried at least nine sleep masks before finding ones that don't leak light around the nose bridge. That tiny gap ruined every cheap mask I bought, and my neurologist confirmed even small light exposure was triggering episodes.

Moved to an apartment across from a parking lot with those awful sodium lights. Regular curtains did nothing. Had to go full blackout or accept waking up at 2 AM with my head pounding.

Sometimes the light gets you before you can block it. Fluorescent store lighting, a coworker flipping on the overheads without warning. These are my damage control kit for when a migraine is already rolling in.

Screens were destroying me at work. Eight hours of monitor glare plus overhead fluorescents meant I was getting migraines three times a week. Started wearing blue light glasses and the frequency dropped to maybe once a month.

Heat makes my migraines spiral. Regular pillows trap warmth around my head and I'd wake up drenched and throbbing at 3 AM. Cooling pillows didn't cure anything but they stopped making bad nights worse.

Once I blacked out the room, I realized light wasn't my only problem. Every car door, dog bark, and neighbor's TV was keeping me in shallow sleep where migraines love to live. Needed sound coverage too.

Beyond masks and curtains, a few small changes to my bedroom setup cut my migraine frequency in half. Dimmer switches, warmer bulbs, and getting rid of standby lights on electronics made a bigger difference than I expected.
